The Specialized Unit for the Treatment of Children with Autism
\nThe Specialized Unit for the Treatment of Children with Autism and Pervasive Developmental Disorders has operated as a peripheral unit of the Children\u2019s Psychiatric Hospital in Attica, Greece since 1985.
\nThis facility has been the sole structure of this kind since 1985 (within the Greek National Health System) and it was set up under the 2716\/1999 Act concerning mental health. Under the providing of the same act it has been categorized as a Specialized Care Centre.
\nFollowing a decree by the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity (23\/5\/2011) the Unit became part of the Children\u2019s General Hospital of Athens \u201cP. & A. KYRIAKOU\u201d.
\nThe unit offers mental health services to children and adolescents diagnosed with Autism or within the pervasive developmental disorders spectrum.<\/p>\n

\nFOR PRESCHOOLERS 2 – 5 YEARS OLD .<\/p>\n

RESEARCH ON AUTISM<\/strong>
\nEDUCATION OF THERAPISTS AND HEALTH PROFESSIONALS
\nFOR HEALTH AND\/OR EDUCATION PROFESSIONALS.<\/p>\n

STAFF<\/strong>
\nThe Day Care Centre is a unit of the Children\u2019s Genaral Hospital \u201cPanagiotis and Aglaia Kyriakou\u201d.
\nThe Head of the unit, since 1985, is the clinical psychologist, Stergios Notas D.P.MGR.
\nThe multidisciplinary team, which is the scientific “core” of the unit, consists of the following:<\/p>\n

This team is supported by a variety of staff aided by trainees in the fields of Psychology and Occupational therapy, as well as a number of trainee health professionals.
\nThe team is assisted by associate health practitioners of various disciplines.<\/p>\n
